Aggregation vs Commingling vs Processing
Aggregation, comingling, and processing events are all ADD events, but there are key differences between them.
Aggregation: Multiple child products are combined into a parent product, such as cases being loaded onto a pallet. The child products can be disaggregated from the parent product, such as removing cases from a pallet.
Commingling: Multiple batches or lots are combined into a single batch or lot without substantial product form change. Unlike an aggregation, this process is irreversible, such as dumping multiple lots of shrimp into a larger container.
Processing: Input products are altered to produce a new output product, such as processing whole fish into fish filets.
